And what a weekend it was! Dec 8th at Big Spring Park over 200 people gathered to help the community usher in the first night of Hanukkah. I would like to thank the Mayor’s Office for their help. In particular I would like to acknowledge David Delisser from Parks and Recreation, Donna Corbett, Ashley Dinges, Beverly Lowe and Operation Green Team for allowing us to celebrate Hanukkah in this manner.
I would also like to thank the Temple Board of Directors for their support along with Rabbi Bahar for her help and guidance, Marcia Bouska , Frank Contreras and the Temple Choir. To Vic Van Leeuwen, who created this menorah: without you there would not have been a Menorah for us to light
From the Huntsville Jewish Community, I would like to express my gratitude to Rabbi Laibel Berkowitz, and Gary Hall from Etz Chaim Synagogue.
From the Greater Huntsville Community, I would like to acknowledge IMS, Covenant of Peace Church, Pastor Bob Somerville, Ginny Kennedy from WLRH and Kay Campbell the Religion Editor for the Huntsville Times.
Batsheva’s concert was amazing. We had an outstanding crowd. She sung in 4 different languages and showed an outstanding vocal range. She mixed in a few Hanukkah tunes along with some folk tunes including her version of what Mrs. Tevye would sing if she could. Her renditions of Hatikvah and Oseh Shalom were moving and brought everyone to their feet. This was truly a concert to remember.
